Welcome to the "Scrapping your Stash" blog hop. You should have started at Practical Scrappers http://practicalscrappers.blogspot.com and arrived here from Marcia's blog. I hope this will be a great break and and give your scrapping a boost this wonderful, long weekend.
I love my daughter. That being said, I also admire her.
She is a great artist and that is mostly self taught. About a 2 weeks
ago she posted a decorative piece "Start each day with a grateful
heart". It inspired me because I am primarily a quilter. She did a
beautiful job with her pinwheel background and it's done in beautiful, bold colors I love. (You
can find it here http://scrappingwithchristine.blogspot.com/2014/08/creative-blog-hop.html and also on her Aug 17 post on that same blog). Therefore, I "Give Thanks" for the inspiration and for the wonderful daughter (wife, mother, friend and designer) that she is. And this is dedicated to her... |

That being said, this is how Christine inspired me. I found the base pumpkin-shaped board at Hobby Lobby and went to work. The hexagons are punched (Fiskars - 1 5/8 in) and attached using Mod Podge (which you understand if you've ever had to attach many pieces) matte finish. All the papers were from my leftover bin. "Give Thanks" is cut from Cricut Songbird italic. Coordination orange paper, textured and inked edges. I attached the edge pieces, let them dry and then trimmed them. |

Here's a close up it of the floral embellishment. All the flowers (Cricut Walk in my Garden)are made of plain cardstock and shaded with stamping ink. The leaves were dry embossed and inked. The butterfly is 2 punches, the base a brown and a gold top (Martha Stewart) and the branch is from Hobby Lobby (I admit it, it's not out of stash). The bakers twine is from the Twinery. (I added the bow later - burlap ribbon from Hobby Lobby and no, it's not from my stash. No decor is complete without burlap this year!) | |

Here's another view. Again, I add the bow later but this shows the twine. I wrapped it around a pencil and thinner dowel, dipped it in liquid starch and let it dry. |

This shows a bit better that the letters are raised with pop dots (actually the foam left over as I needed thin strips... that's practical scrapping) to stand off the base a bit, giving extra dimension. |
I'm thankful you stopped by and I hope that this will bring you inspiration for the upcoming autumn and Thanksgiving season.
I'm so thankful, that I will offer a prize from those who leave a comment and are followers by Monday midnight PDT. Sorry, USA only. I'll post the winner next Tuesday. From here you hop on by and say hi to Cathy at
