Christmas Delights

Courtney had asked for a tree skirt for Christmas but what is a tree without stockings!
At first I thought it a bit strange that she wanted silver and gold, white and lime green, but when I got them together and thought "modern", it was fun and eye catching!
The background is white satin with a silver checkered organza over the top. The trees are a lime satin with inbedded random rhinestones. The nativity a gold organza and the stars are a white organza with gold stars and dots set on a silver satin. Merry Christmas Courtney and Christopher!

Quilt Dedication and Send-off

It is always exciting to get all the "Stitchin' for Missions" quilts together and ready to ship around the world. The quilts were dedicated yesterday and the congregation laid a hand on the nearest quilt while we prayed for the recipients. Always a touching service. I am so blessed to have hobby where I can serve the Lord and get such pleasure doing it. Now onto children's quilts for an Apache Mission and their Christmas party.

Touchdown Recycled

The chipboard circles are gone but the frame remained and when it was set down and landed on a picture, an idea was born! I have several others in the works now...usually those pictures "leftover" but still cute - so they are going into a "year end" frame/collage.

No recipe this time...its all leftovers!

Endings and Beginnings

Okay, I'll admit that this looks a lot like the end of school, not "Back to School" like the challenge. But before I even graduated, I was offered my first official teaching contract... provided I graduated. So though it was an end, it marked my "Back to School" beginning!
Papers are Miss Elizabeths and a scrapbook calendar page (floral).

California Adventure

A chilly day in February doesn't stop the little ones from having lots of fun.  Seagullls, castle and lighthouse are all from Cricut's Life's a Beach and both papers are sanded to show their white core. The letters are shaded with pink and orange chalk and the seashells are part of that California Adventure!

I took a clearance bargain from Michaels (6/25) and just had fun with some translucent stickers. I love the way they change colors where they over lap with colors...kaliedoscope fun!
Stickers were Miss Elizabeths. Figured this cost me twenty cents to make...yeah!!!

I was given these pictures from a brunch I recently attended...Nila and I had a blast.
I'm entering it in Practical Scrappers (sticker challenge).
The large "smile" sticker had to be placed on white first for it to show up... but it soooo describes our times together...and it was fun to find I had flower stickers to make a matching table napkin.

Easter Flowers

We had an Easter breakfast fundraiser for a young mother at church who suffered a stroke. And what is Easter without flowers and fun decorations. The flowers are real but needed to dress us the small cups we used for vases.
A line of punches on top and bottom of the sleeve, lined with yellow and then tulip cuts from Cricut "Walk in My Garden" to finish it off (matches the napkins in the background). The cross is 2 sided - green in the center with embossed crosses, inked a bit and other side has a soaring butterfly - Cricut Storybook - as well.
This is being entered in the Stampin Royalty Easter challenge.

Our Mission

This is the full mission statement as now displayed in the narthex of our church...keeping our goal in our mind and in front of our eyes.

For those who wonder about such things, the background is sueded mat board (recycled/rescued from a local frame shop) with Cricut cut vinyl lettering.

Proclaiming the Truth of God's Word

I've been busy finishing up some banners and displays for our church. We are trying to make our mission statement a larger focus of our decision making (based first on the Word of God). The banners show the 4 verbs, our actions inspired by God's love for us.

That Tickles!

I was honored to be asked to be a guest designer for Practical Scrappers. Their theme was flowers and I knew immediately what picture I would use. I first thought I would get ready made flowers to complete the ones in the photograph. When I couldn't find any, I thought I would make my own. Matching paper was the next challenge but I knew I was going to have to add hi-lites anyway, so took what was close and had fun making it match.

All paper came from DCWV stacks.
Flowers are layers of "daisy" shadow from "Walk in my Garden" Cricut
They are colored with acrylics, markers and chalk. Centers are from pompoms, embroidery floss and fringe trim.
Letters are Cricut Jasmine, highlighted with Stickles
Ribbon is by Carnival Crafts.
